Selecting Your Destination Wedding Dress
 I've
often had brides ask me what the "appropriate dress" is for
a
beach wedding in paradise. At least on
Maui in Hawaii I can tell you that virtually anything is
appropriate. Both formal and casual attire is appropriate. I
have even performed weddings for couples wearing "wedding
bikinis". It really is up to you what you wear here.
Destination Wedding Dresses
But from personal experience, I would suggest
that the traditional white wedding dress looks great in a tropical setting. Whether you are going to be married
on the grass overlooking the ocean, or standing right on the sand at
the edge of the water, a beautiful wedding gown (with a train
if you can) will make for the best photographic images at
your wedding.
I've talked to many other Maui
wedding photographers about this
and we all agree that seeing a couple in formal attire,
especially with the bride in a beautiful wedding dress,
makes the quality of our images look just that much better.

A bride has many choices in
obtaining her dress. Over the years I've seen a wide variety
of gowns. Destination wedding dresses can be long and
flowing or simple and plan. The key is to get what is right
for you figure and your personality. Don't wear what you
think you "should". Wear what makes you look the best.
 Many
brides will order their destination wedding dress back home,
and then bring it on the airplane. Unfortunately, it is much
more difficult than it used to be to hang a dress up in an
airplane. It is more likely if you bring it with you that it
will be packed tightly in a suitcase, adding a few wrinkles
to its condition.
When its possible many of our brides will
ship their dress ahead of time right to one of our vendors
who will press it (getting rid of the wrinkles) and get it
ready to wear. Our vendor will even help the bride into her
gown on her wedding day if she has no attendants coming to
her wedding.
Another choice for less picky brides
would be to rent a gown from our local tuxedo and bridal
shop. There are many fine choices available, but certainly
not what you can find at home or on the Internet.
Whatever you choose to wear, just make
certain that you plan ahead for your destination wedding
apparel so that you and your fiancé look as elegant as you
feel standing in the beautiful atmosphere of your
destination wedding locale.
